Junior Basketball Activities at Highfields Academy Basketball operates a beginners program as well as junior fixtures every Saturday during school term. The Summer Season of the junior competition operates on Saturdays during school terms 4 and 1. The Winter Season operates over school terms 2 and 3. The Aussie Hoops beginners program is for children aged 5-10 years old and operates from 9:00am to 10:00am. All junior activities are based at the Highfields Fitness & Recreation Centre located in O'Brien Road Highfields Qld Who can play ? We provide numbered team playing tops. You will need a pair of black shorts and appropriate footwear. What happens if I miss the start of a season, can I still join a team? Do I have to have played Basketball Before? Junior Rep Team Trials Saturday 11th February
The Regional Basketball Group Inc will be conducting a regional selection trial on Saturday February 11th to confirm regional teams competing in the Qld Junior State Championships. The trial is free, starting at 1pm and finishing at 4pm. For more information please download the Information Flyer Level 1 Coaching Course Sunday 5th and 12th February 2012 CANCELLED! Sorry but this course has been cancelled due to insufficient registrations. Leonard King from Basketball Qld will be delivering a Level 1 Coaching Course in Toowoomba on Sunday 5th and 12th of February (2 day course). The cost is $125 per person. We encourage all members that wish to improve their coaching skills to attend this course. A new Regional Basketball Body has been formed by the clubs of Academy Basketball, Goondiwindi Baskeball, Hervey Bay Basketball, Pittsworth Basketball, Stanthorpe Basketball and Tenterfield Basketball. The new organisation is a not for profit association and has been created to further support and develop smaller basketball clubs in the Darling Downs and Wide Bay areas of Qld. The "Regional Basketball Group Inc", will be affiliated with Basketball Qld and responsible for co-ordinating education and training for it's affiliate clubs as well as delivering Regional Carnivals and Competitions. The Highfields RSL Sub Branch has donated $1,500 toward the purchase of new uniforms for Academy Basketball Darling Downs Rep Teams. The teams will be selected from the Regional Rep Trial being held on Saturday 22nd October at Highfields and will wear the new strips at the Qld Junior State Championships early next year.
